Yum!catan is a restaurant pop-up that embraces the culinary history of the Yucatan’s cochinita pibil. Cohinitia pibil is a pre-Hispanic recipe prepared in traditional underground ovens, bringing out the deep flavors of slow-cooked pork and habanero. Traditionally topped with pickled red onions, the brand created by The Branding People takes this magenta vegetable and uses it as inspiration for the base color for the brand. Typography and imperfect illustration showcase a modern approach to tired Mayan-inspired tropes, mainly in the leading logotype.
