As foodie culture becomes more mainstream, more and more events find themselves centered around food. In João Pessoa, Brazil, there’s a large festival dedicated solely to barbecue called UNQ BBQ, with a visual identity that hits hard. Like most BBQ-related restaurants, the color palette is inspired by the raging colors of hot coals; fiery reds and deep blacks, punctuated by a cream animal-fat color. A grate texture is also used liberally, referencing the large industrial grills used at events like this. What I love most about this look, though, is the use of typography. Various weights and widths are used with wild abandon, creating a dynamic and energetic look that is hard to ignore.
