Oh Canada, Cava is a tasty restaurant brand for a tapas and wine bar. The people at Concrete put together a lovely identity for the new restaurant using patterns and illustrations of the key feature of this restaurant: cured meat by the chef. Here’s how Concrete describes it:

Cava is the Spanish word for both wine cellar and the sparkling white wine of Catalan origin. It is also the name of Toronto chef Chris McDonald’s new rustic, modern wine and tapas bar. The restaurant’s food reflects the culinary influences of Spain, Italy and France with occasional Mexican flourishes.

A main feature of the eatery is chef McDonald’s in-house cured meats. This served as the principal inspiration for the series of whimsical illustrations used for the identity program, the central character being the busy chef himself.
