Celebrity chefs sometimes think their name is all the branding they need, but Lisa Garza knew she needed something more than just her status to draw customers into her southern-styled restaurant in Dallas. Tractorbeam helped Garza conceptualize and execute Sissy’s Southern Kitchen & Bar and drawing upon inspirations from such southern institutions as Mason jars, garden seed packets and The Farmer’s Almanac, they gave Sissy’s a southern charm without the pretense of wooden knickknacks and all lace everything. They produced a sophisticated concept centered around posters and artwork similar to those found on seed packets from the feed store. The Sissy’s logo is a direct descendant from that found on the Mason jar and every piece of work has the desired old-fashioned vibe, all the way to the pinups. Sissy’s accomplishes what few have: a smart Southern-inspired design that is colorful, clever and rooted in the DIY traditions of the region.
