Cafetoria is a coffee roaster in Helsinki, Finland with a strong moral drive to promote the fair trade, social development and environmental protection of small coffee farms in Latin America. Diferente set out to create a brand image for Cafetoria that communicated that they were a Nordic company with deeply latin roots. The solution was to base the new visual langauge around the humble coffee bean, illustrated in a simple, geometric and classically Nordic way, while expanding on it in a series of patterns that are inspired by latin ethnic crafts. The different modules of the coffee bean symbols are arranged and rearranged to create different icons that illustrate each coffee blends’ origin and personality. The result is a minimalist brand image with a Latin touch that stands out as a premium handmade product roasted wholeheartedly in Finland.
