Toscana’s logo features clear geometric forms, drawn from the raw ingredients that the restaurant uses, and creates a winged horse crest that is typical of the Tuscan region. Their take-out packaging, too, is very modern, using a mishmash of different typefaces in highly-structured layouts. One could stare at these boxes for a while, discovering new details with each glance. I really like reading all the messaging for designs like this; these take-out boxes feature quips of copy that range from informative (like stating under which circumstances the box can be recycled) to purely brand voice. My favorite is “Soon, this will be just an old pizza box. But right here, right now, this is your bundle of joy.” Like the typographic layouts on the boxes, the brand too is modular and structured. Different assets and lockups are used interchangeably, and since each graphic feels completely different from the next, they all work together in perfect, offbeat harmony.
