Gorgeously campy, Khao Khai’s is a small Thai restaurant with a big personality. It’s look pays tribute to kitschy-traditional southeast Asian visual tropes, brandishing old school type and nostalgic bright colors. The menu system is simply designed, easy to read but not lacking in personality and broken up with quippy copy. Khao Khai doesn’t really have a logo per say, but a flexible system of wordmarks, always displayed in the same way; red type with a yellow drop shadow. The restaurant’s name is the only visual element that receives this dimensional treatment, singling it out as the brand on each touchpoint. It’s an interesting, unique approach to a visual identity system, and one we applaud NS Design for pursuing.
