Ono Food Co. is a mobile dining concept delivering healthy and affordable food in LA. Their first venture into the automated food industry, Ono Blends, using robotic technology to make smoothies faster and in a more economical way. Inspired by the vivid colors and experiences of Hawaii, where the concept was conceived and developed, Ono Blends balances simplicity and minimalism with playfulness. Especially for such a technology-forward concept, injecting as much humanity as possible into the experience is a must. The palette is warm and inviting, and the brand identity overall avoids falling into typical tropical tropes. The whimsy found in some of their thrown-together typographic compositions speaks to the nature of blending smoothies, while the all caps, geometric logotype remains rigid, making it easy to read with a subtle techy edge. Geometric representations of the ingredients in the background also feel technological, mirroring molecular structures, but because of textures and coloring don’t feel overly scientific.
