Gex X Tavern, in Tampa, FL, bridges the gap from 80s-90s throwback to now. It celebrates the era of high-waisted jeans, the NES, and synthesizers with its tongue-in-check visual identity. It feels deliciously digital-retro with its monospaced typography and simple illustrated graphics. There are so many fun touchpoints here; the business card is a Gameboy, and the employee is the cartridge on the back side, everyone’s favorite mustachioed plumber making an appearance on the drink menu, and even the fun quip on the coaster ‘Drink Forrest Drink’ make this a bar that I am dying to visit.
