The design team at De Vicq has a classic art deco and art nouveau aesthetics interwoven throughout their work. It’s highly nostalgic as that’s the design direction found at most classic/vintage establishments. What that team does well is use tried and true styles as the foundation for introducing new textures and graphic elements that push restaurant identities to the next level. This is found in their work Le Diplomate, a Washington DC restaurant created by Stephen Starr.
The typography is an exercise in careful handwork with a custom designed type style held in a beauty bounding box graphic element. From there the identity comes to life with intricately beautiful border treatments offset by simple, strong graphic elements. The result is gorgeous and unforgettable.
