San Francisco style, especially in eateries, is always a little off-kilter. The designers MM, from San Francisco, gave the now-defunct Bar Johnny an edgy presentation in their work branding the bar.

Using a noir-punk style, reminiscent of hard-boiled crime novels and punk rock fanzines of the early 80’s, MM captures a true “drink kitchen”, as the bar describes itself. Using a mixture of irregular font sizes, graphic black and white themes and cut-and-paste D.I.Y. elements, the edginess of Bar Johnny is established.
