Atlanta’s own Sean Metcalf created an updated brand identity for Savannah’s now-closed Italian eatery Il Pasticcio. Metcalf helped establish Il Pasticcio as a high-end place to get great pasta with an exclusive atmosphere. The logo works because it uses Il Pasticcio’s Italian heritage name with an interlocking I and P joined together by a classic Italian architecture staple, the column. Il Pasticcio’s branding speaks extravagance and even a little excess, not unlike a heaping plate of pasta. Metcalf’s design is imaginative enough without turning customers off, something easily achieved by some high-end restaurants.
