A Curious Laneway Bar Design

There’s a movement in Australia that is making enough of an impact that it’s got its own name. Laneway culture is all about small shops, restaurants and bars that spring up in small spaces. Often hidden from view, these laneways offer unique experiences to those in the know. While they’re usually anything but high-end, they offer visitors an exclusive feeling due to their hidden and tucked-away nature. Marc & Co. handled the design of Melbourne’s Super Whatnot, a laneway bar built on the backside of an abandoned beauty school. Super Whatnot combines found materials of all kinds and repurposes many of the materials already found in or attached to the building. The bar serves unique beer and food and it’s far from the typical, but it offers those looking for something a little different, the perfect spot. Super Whatnot has a brilliant name for its location as well. A place full of odds and ins should have a curious name.
