Inspired by time travel, the brand identity for Voyageur du Temps explores schematic drawings and solid typographical treatments that create a science-like vibe. The thin, precise lines in the illustrations mirror the method by which the chef handles his craft. They allow the logo, inspired by the roman number 5 from a French clock, to jump out and make a statement.
This brand identity is an excellent example of communicating the restaurant’s brand experience visually. Here is what Character, the creatives behind this work, had to work with:
Located a short walk from downtown Los Altos, Voyageur du Temps (VDT) is an artisan bakery and café serving world-class bread, pastries and coffee. Voyageur du Temps, which means time traveler in French, was the vision of owner and local resident, Rie Rubin. As the name suggests, Rie’s vision was a café that transported people back in time. A place that moved between tradition and modernity—that drew on the classic values of cooking and baking, but with a contemporary twist.
