Banyan Bar & Refuge by Adam&Co.

Banyan bar & Refuge is a modern Asian gastropub located in Boston’s South End. Agency Adam&C0. took inspiration for their from the branches of nearby trees that sheltered the bars’ large outdoor patio, carrying the organic textures and colors throughout the brand and into the interiors, decorating the ceiling with hanging branches.

The identity mark, compromised of fluid inky brushstrokes, works well with the variety of different textures across the different pieces. It feels exotic and adventurous but not unapproachable, inviting the patron to try something new. The sophisticated touches of gold foil used sparingly are a nice, upscale touch and the use of straightforward typography on the menu contrast nicely with the lush colors and varying photo overlays. Banyan’s branding truly helps it feel like a jungle refuge from the hustle and bustle of busy Boston life.
