Over here at Vigor we love when a client can embrace and own a single color to highlight their brand. Shaun Hill and freelance designer, Candice Bondi teamed up on this project and executed a fun and quirky street-food inspired deli in Johannesburg, South Africa. Baba G is named after the Middle Eastern aubergine dish babaganoush; it’s quick and clever and immediately gives you an idea of the kind of food served here.
The illustrations by Hill are what really put this whole branding together, they pull you in like a moth to a flame. The naked chicken illustrations are featured in many compromising poses, giving it such a delightful wink to this fun restaurant. The halftone effect is applied throughout out and is super tasteful giving it that newspaper-feel on brightly colored paper, keeping ink black and cost-effective without compromising on design. Having a hand-painted mural on the wall give this restaurant authenticity and welcomes customers to their wall of rotisserie chicken.
