Taverne Louise is a restaurant located in Quebec City’s Old Port, right by its namesake, Bassin Louise. It is named in honor of Queen Victoria’s daughter, a significant figure in Canada’s history. Taverne Louise’s name and menu represents a crossroads of tradition and modernity, and it’s logo and overall branding suite reflect this. Louise’s historical coat of arms has been simplified to its geometric essence, and this is applied as a pattern across several touch points. The ‘O’ of the logo bears an understated crown, and the limited color palette of black and soft gold add a regal, feminine feel to the brand. The use of a black and white historical portrait of the restaurant’s muse as a brand mainstay contrasts nicely with the clean, geometric lines of the rest of the brand.
