RTDs, or ready-to-drink cocktails, have surged in popularity in recent years. Now, small, craft-focused companies are coming onto the scene hoping to create a lifestyle brand around their drinks. Golden Rule is once such company, with their breakout RTD, Margarita Original, designed by freelance designer Nicola Broderick and another flavor in the works for release this year. Positioning themselves as ‘Destination Cocktails’ meant for on-the-go consumption, each SKU is inspired by the origin and location of each cocktail. Heavily inspired by vintage travel matchbooks, Broderick illustrates a destination the consumer can imagine themselves in on the can, in the case of Margarita Original its an old cantina somewhere in Mexico. The can is a brilliant, eye-catching teal color with the illustration front and center, surrounded by vintage-inspired typefaces to match. The multi-pack packaging is especially striking, also in all over teal and allowing you to peak at the cans. If this is how the first SKU looks, I’m excited to see what the future flavors will look.
