Dodoli is a Koren tofu pot restaurant located in Taipei and named after South Korea’s ancient mountain god. While no physical form was ever described in folklore about Dodoli, Midnight Design chose the form of a deer, and all it’s close associations with nature and plants (since tofu comes from soybeans), as the restaurant’s mascot. The deer’s body is composed of stems and leaves, and these botanical motifs are repeated throughout the visual identity. To connect the brand story to its ancient inspiration, the illustrations feature a worn hand-carved treatment, suggesting that the illustrations are ancient themselves.
