Onliest Oyster isn’t a restaurant. It’s a retailer based out of the Chesapeake Bay that connects the watermen who grow the oysters with their customers. The Bay is known for the quality of oysters it produces and touts a longstanding reputation for its seafood. Stitch Design Co looked to this hardworking history when branding Onliest, focusing on featuring the watermen and the tools of their trade with an elegant eye and a nod to their history. A sophisticated serif type is used in the logo and for headlines. Contrasted against an all-caps bold monospaced face that feels industrious, the pairing acknowledges the fanciful food that is an oyster while still spotlighting the hard work that goes into raising them. Deep navy and bright, almost day-glo yellow are quintessentially nautical, but the colors here don’t feel tired or trope-y.
