Yeah. No joke. We’ve been pretty attached to our work. Me, personally, I feel a special connection to just about everything I design. I put my soul into my work, but never have I ever thought to put an actual piece of myself into it. Not like Ruud Linssen did when he printed his book in his own blood.
Dutch poet and journalist Ruud Linssen wrote essays on voluntary suffering over the span of two years. he compiled it into a book that links personal observations with historical and literary examples. The book is entitled: Book of war, mortification and love.
To stress the suffering: this book is printed in the author’s blood. Yes… the author’s blood. Here is video outlining the process of turning blood into printable ink.
The book is a type specimen as well for Underware Type Foundry’s Fakir family. You can buy the book and type here: http://www.underware.nl
