Pennyback is a line of heavy-duty mixers from Austin, Texas. They use locally-sourced ingredients for their tonics and sodas, representing that idea with the copper botanical filigree incorporated into their logo badge. Inspired by the Pennybacker Bridge in Austin, the labels feature a strong architectural slant, and the typography is laid out in distinct structural blocks. The numbering system towards the bottom of the label seems to mirror what the bridge would look like from a bird’s eye view. The numbering system, too, is unique in that it seems to mark some sort of unique quality about each batch, but I can’t glean what that information is exactly from the photos. Overall, it’s a gorgeous luxe-looking identity for a beverage category that tends to get left behind.
