Working on concepts that are parts of a larger whole always presents an interesting challenge. For Communal Studio, that challenge was branding a restaurant and bar concept inside of Sociedad Cuauhtémoc y Famosa, a club for Heineken Mexico’s staff and associates. They created a series of illustrations, icons, and antique photos that spoke to the heritage and surrounding nature of the building itself. Typography, inspired by the early 1900s, and the use of an arch device, relating to the buildings new construction, represent an intersection of past and present. The whole thing is tied together with an elegant, muted iteration on Heineken’s signature green, harkening back to the parent brand without being overt about it.
