Kessalao is a take-away Mediterranean restaurant in Bonn, Germany. They designed a brand around the shape of a drop of olive oil, playing on the staple ingredient of Mediterranean food. The typical design conventions used in this cuisine stop there. The space is fresh and modern, and the colors are very bright and playful. According to the brief on Masque Studio’s case study, these colors were chosen specifically because they are popular with Germans. Looking past the bright colors, it’s easy to see the heavy German influence in the interior design; the use of modular adaptable pieces, the straight and linear lines present throughout the space, the utility of a lot of the materials, etc.
