Old Elephant House takes literal inspiration from its location; it operates out of the old elephant enclosure at Auckland Zoo. Inspired by its jungle-inhabiting neighbors, Old Elephant House features an illustrative collage of jungle-inspired motifs. Loosely drawn plant shapes intermingle with lushly colored amorphous shapes and organic patterns inspired by those in nature, such as tree rings. This mishmash of visuals is cropped interestingly across the menu system, and interpreted playfully within the restaurant’s walls. Contrasted with clean, classic and spacious typography, Old Elephant House offers an elegant experience without skimping on personality.
