The San Pedro, Mexico burrito and taco restaurant Canalla wanted an interior that would welcome anyone, particularly wandering folks looking for a good taco. Using that story as the jumping point, Manifiesto Futura built an interior mostly by hand consisting of light woods for tables, chairs and other furnishings. The interior features a clean look and the various embellishments around the restaurant were chosen wisely and edited carefully to avoid unnecessary clutter. The salsas and spices come bottled and ready for use at each table and the bottles look like something you’d find on the shelf of an arborist or some other scientist. The overall feel of the location and the branding (including the logo) is influenced by natural science motifs and ironically the approach creates a welcoming and comfortable atmosphere as opposed to a sterile environment. While it was a lot of work to create all of the furnishings by hand, Manifiesto Futura put in the blood, sweat and tears work to give Taqueria Canalla a look that is raw yet refined.
