Canoe Canoe restaurant branding by Lachlan Philp

If you mix 1950’s Boy Scout, vintage Summer vibes with classic sign painter typography, and beautiful pastels, you get the look for Canoe Canoe. This full-service restaurant and bar in Melbourne, Australia has been adorned with a highly nostalgic, personable brand identity that’s spearheaded by hand-crafted type.

The identity has a light, airy feel because of the color palette which offsets the black and white photographic elements very well. Mixing in the sign painter style type gives it a highly approachable vibe. This is a welcomed shift from the overly hipster-ified, urban industrial chic design styles usually found in this category of restaurant.
